Nashua woman charged with drunk driving after causing multiple accidents in Merrimack

MERRIMACK, NH – Merrimack police have arrested a Nashua woman who left the scene of an accident on Tinker Road Thursday afternoon.

Merrimack Police were notified of a car accident on Tinker Road where, according to police, one of the drivers failed to stop and left the scene of the accident.

The other driver followed the vehicle and gave officers his location. Officers found the vehicle in question on Continental Blvd.

The vehicle initially did not stop for police, but eventually came to a stop on Continental Boulevard near Camp Sargent Road.

Officers made contact with the driver, identified as America Alcaraz, 22, of Nashua. Alcaraz showed signs of alcohol impairment and was taken into custody.

Alcaraz was transported to the Merrimack Police Department where she was processed. During the investigation, it was discovered that Alcaraz attempted to illegally pass a vehicle on Tinker Road, sideswiped the vehicle and then left the scene.

The vehicle continued driving and turned into a driveway on Peaslee Road, struck a stone wall and left the scene of the accident.

Alcaraz was found to have a breath alcohol content of more than twice the legal limit and was charged with disobeying a police officer, conduct after an accident, aggravated driving while intoxicated and reckless driving.

She is scheduled to appear in Merrimack 9th District Court on June 27, 2024 to answer the charges.
