Glasgow rapist took victim to police station to confess before attacking another woman

A rapist took his victim to the police station to confess after attacking her in a Glasgow flat, but then went on to rape another woman.

Beni Mubiala had sex with the woman who repeatedly told him “no”.

The 27-year-old later claimed he was “prepared to face the consequences” for the attack in his home in Glasgow’s Townhead district on July 3, 2021.

But even though Mubiala subsequently appeared in the dock, he brutally raped a student in April 2022.

The first offender admitted the crimes yesterday (Monday, June 10) at a hearing at the High Court in Glasgow.

His verdict will be announced next month.

Mubiala and the first victim stayed in touch through social media. Then on the night of the attack, they met and went to his house.

Later, consensual sexual activity occurred – but the woman had previously insisted that she did not want sexual intercourse.

However, the court heard that Mubiala subsequently raped her.

Prosecutor John Keenan KC said: “She said ‘no’ to him a few times but he didn’t stop.”

“She had no doubt that he could hear her.”

The deputy attorney added that the woman was “distraught, confused and frightened” and that she sent him a message the next day insisting that his behavior was “rape behavior.”

Mr Keenan: “He replied that he knew and that he was caught up in the moment.”

A week later, the woman wrote him a letter explaining her feelings.

Mr Keenan: “He said he was prepared to face the consequences of his actions. They agreed to go to the police together on July 23, 2021.”

The woman said they were there to “report a sexual assault,” and Mubiala confirmed this.

Mubiala told police there were “agreed parameters” for the sexual activity between him and the woman. He admitted she did not consent to what he then did.

A few days later, Mubiala appeared before Glasgow Sheriff Court and was released on bail.

But on April 20, 2022, he struck again in the student dormitories in the city’s Dobbie’s Loan.

Mubiala ended up there with a young woman and initially had consensual sex. Then she said he was “rough” and he stopped.

This victim turned away and wanted to go to sleep.

However, Mr Keenan said Mubiala then “violently” pulled her onto her back and raped her.

The prosecutor: “She didn’t say anything and didn’t react in any way. She was afraid of his reaction.”

The violent Mubiala continued the attack and began to strangle the young woman.

Mr Keenan: “She gasped for air. He let go and hit her in the face. She was scared.”

When he finally stopped, the victim put on sweatpants, ran out of the room and, in tears, sent a photo of herself to a friend.

Two weeks later she reported the incident to the police.

Mubiala was supposed to stand trial, but pleaded guilty to rape charges in both cases through his lawyer Paul Nelson.

He had been released on bail but Judge Kevin McCallum KC remanded him in custody as sentencing was adjourned for reporting purposes.
