Man charged after woman was held captive and sexually abused in Canberra

The woman told police that she had allegedly been locked in her home by a man for several days.

The woman also told police that the man had attacked and sexually abused her several times, causing her numerous injuries.

The police went to the man’s house and arrested him a short time later.

The 44-year-old is accused of four offenses: deprivation of liberty, sexual intercourse without consent, bodily harm and failure to appear in court.

Police believe that further charges are to be expected.

He will appear before the Australian Capital Territory Magistrates Court today.
