Dearborn flight instructor killed, UM student injured in plane crash in Washtenaw County

WASHTENAW COUNTY, Michigan. – The identity of the two victims of the fatal Washtenaw County Plane crash was uncovered.

Michigan State Police say a 46-year-old man who was a flight instructor at Dearborn died in the crash.

The student, a 22-year-old man from North Carolina, is studying at the University of Michiganwas hurt.

The accident occurred on Monday, June 10, at 1:13 p.m. in the area of ​​Michigan Avenue and Lima Center Road in Bridgewater Township.

He is recovering at the U of M Hospital in Ann Arbor.

According to officials, passersby stopped on the highway and did their best to help.

“I saw two or three people go in there. They must have driven by, and they also crashed the plane and looked for survivors,” said Ken Krause.

The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) are currently investigating.
