Daughter of South African rapper dies in horrific car accident, he loses his foot

For Shebeshxt, this is already the second accident in less than six months.

South African rapper Shebeshxt, whose real name is Lehlogonolo Katlego Chauke, tragically lost his 9-year-old daughter when his car collided with a truck and overturned. The accident is believed to have occurred at 10pm on Saturday on the R37 road near Smelters Mine in Limpopo.

The 27-year-old musician was on his way to an African National Congress (ANC) concert at the Siyanqoba Rally in the northern province of Limpopo. He was driving his new Volkswagen Polo and was accompanied by his girlfriend and daughter when the vehicle collided with a truck and overturned. BBC reported.

Tragically, his daughter succumbed to injuries from the accident, while Shebeshxt lost a foot. The rapper confirmed the incident and the death of his little daughter on social media.

“My heart is so, so broken. I’m trying to come to terms with the accident that has left me traumatised and with so many tears. Losing my foot was enough but losing my daughter Hle Modimo I love you with all my heart. Onthatile,” he wrote on X.

Since then, fans have taken to social media to express their prayers and condolences for the rapper and his family.

The Limpopo Artists Movement (LAM) said on Monday: “We cannot imagine the pain and grief they must be going through, but we want them to know that they are not alone. The entire artist community stands by them in solidarity and offers comfort and support. Shebe is not only a talented artist but also a valued member of our creative community.”

Tidimalo Chuene, spokesman for the Limpopo Department of Transport, told local media that the cause of the accident was under investigation.

This is the second accident for Shebeshxt in less than six months. He was already involved in a car accident earlier this year.

The rapper shared pictures of the damaged car and wrote how grateful he was to have been given a second chance at life.
