Family distraught after son’s murder in W. Houston, described as drug deal gone wrong

HOUSTON – A family is left distraught after the murder of their teenage son was initially classified as a drug deal that turned violent.

Mario Jordan II, 17, was shot and killed Friday evening at the Abbey at Briar Forest Apartments, near Briar Forest Drive.

Houston police said the killing did not involve drug trafficking.

The family was upset as they said their son was not involved in drug dealing. What they learned was that he was followed and deprived of his jewelry before being shot dead.

Family says Jordan was at a friend’s house earlier that night.

Two men followed Jordan to his apartment and stole his chain, earrings and money before killing him.

Jordan’s parents say he didn’t put up a fight. He still gave his jewelry to the men who shot him.

When asked why they initially called the crime a drug deal gone bad, HPD said it was early in the investigation, but as they looked more at the evidence and talked to witnesses , they discovered other information and that drugs were not involved.

Jordan’s family says they received messages about who the shooters might be, but they are still on the run.

“I want everyone who played a role in my son’s disappearance. I want justice for them,” said Jordan’s father, Mario Jordan.

For the moment, the shooters have not been identified and their description has not been published.

If you have any information about this deadly shooting, you are asked to call HPD.
