50 Cent files defamation lawsuit against ex Daphne Joy over rape and abuse allegations

The legal battle leads to a contentious custody battle over her 11-year-old son Sire.

Legal drama ensues when rapper 50 Cent, born Curtis Jackson, takes legal action against his ex-girlfriend Daphne Joy.

The lawsuit filed by 50 Cent alleges that Joy falsely accused the rapper of raping and physically abusing her, according to information obtained by Page Six.

It was further alleged that Joy made the allegations in retaliation for his pursuit of sole custody of their 11-year-old son, Sire.
The lawsuit alleges that Joy’s Instagram post received over 22,000 likes, damaging 50 Cent’s reputation, business interests and ongoing custody battle.

In response, 50 Cent’s legal team sent a letter to Joy on April 2 demanding the removal of the post and the retraction of her statement.

“However, Joy refused, and her lawyers reportedly demanded millions of dollars and 50 cents to drop the custody battle in exchange for the removal of the post.”
50 Cent describes these demands as “clearly extortionate.”

50 Cent is seeking more than $1 million in damages and wants a court order that Joy remove the post and stop making any further defamatory statements.

In a statement to Page Six, 50 Cent’s attorney Reena Jain condemned Joy’s allegations as false and malicious. Jain suspected that Joy’s actions could be influenced by her association with Sean “Diddy” Combs, who 50 Cent has reportedly been warning about for years.

The legal battle intensified on March 28 when Joy publicly accused 50 Cent of rape and physical abuse.

She also criticized his parenting, claiming he had only seen their son ten times in two years. 50 Cent’s representative dismissed these allegations as false and reiterated the rapper’s commitment to ensuring his son’s safety.

Joy was previously involved in a sexual assault lawsuit involving Combs, in which she denied allegations of being a sex worker for the music mogul. The lawsuit, filed by producer Rodney “Lil Rod” Jones, alleged that Combs paid women for their services.

The ongoing legal saga between 50 Cent and Joy highlights the complexity of personal and legal disputes, with both parties striving to protect their public reputations and interests.
