1 dead and 2 injured in shooting near grocery store in District Heights

According to police, one man died and two others were injured in a shooting outside a supermarket in District Heights, Maryland, on Monday afternoon.

According to police, one man died and two others were injured in a shooting outside a supermarket in District Heights, Maryland, on Monday afternoon.

Prince George’s County Police Captain Sonny Batth said officers were called to the 5400 block of Marlboro Pike around 3:15 p.m. When they arrived, they found three people with gunshot wounds.

One person, a man in his 20s, was pronounced dead at the scene, Batth said. The other two, a woman in her 50s and a man in his 60s, were taken to local hospitals.

The man is in stable condition, Batth said, and the woman has been undergoing surgery for her injuries since Monday evening.

The shooting occurred in the parking lot near the 24/7 Fresh Market supermarket, Batth said.

Officers were “out here going through all the evidence to piece together what really happened here today,” Batth said.

Police did not provide any information about what might have led to the shooting or whether those involved knew each other.
