Death investigation underway after woman and child found in submerged vehicle

EUFAULA, Ala. (WRBL) – The Eufaula Police Department is investigating what led to the deaths of a woman and child after their bodies were discovered in a submerged vehicle near Old Creek Town Park.

Eufaula Police says on Sunday, they received a call about the possible location of two women and a 4-year-old who were reported missing on June 1. The EPD started searching the water area near Old Creek Town Park around 8:30 pm and found a vehicle submerged 12 feet deep.

Houston County Rescue Divers were called in to verify the finding and hooked the vehicle up for extraction. After the vehicle was recovered, a female and a small male child were found dead inside.

The police department says officers and Houston County Divers are continuing to search the area for a possible third person. This is a developing story. WRBL will continue to share more updates when additional details are available.
