Three people arrested for car theft and burglary

Arierous E. King (33, Joliet) was arrested, his record was processed, and he was booked into the Will County Adult Detention Center on a Will County warrant for his arrest for aggravated robbery, auto theft, auto wreck, burglary of an auto, obstructing a police officer, and criminal damage to property.

David E. Tovar (48, Joliet) was arrested, case processed, and booked into the Will County Adult Detention Facility on a Will County warrant for failure to appear in court for aggravated assault and resisting a law enforcement officer.

Ivan S. Davis (43, Joliet) was arrested, charges were brought to court, and he was taken to the Will County Adult Detention Center on a LaSalle County warrant for shoplifting.

On June 7, 2024 at 7:45 a.m., officers were patrolling the 200 block of Center Street when they saw King in the doorway of a residence. Officers knew King had a Will County warrant for aggravated robbery. They approached King and began a conversation. He then ran into the building and into an apartment. Officers pursued King to the second floor, where King jumped through a window and then fled on foot.

While searching for King, Joliet Police received a call that a person had jumped into an occupied vehicle (a black Ford Explorer) at the intersection of Hickory St. and Western Ave. The victim was “pushed” out of his vehicle while the person climbed into the front seats and drove off. The victim was unharmed in the incident. She gave officers a description of the person that matched King’s description.

Officers found the Ford Explorer a short time later in the 900 block of Cora St. Officers learned that King had taken items from the Ford Explorer as he fled. Officers received information that King had run into a residence in the 900 block of N. Center St.

Officers surrounded the home and called the residents out. All residents came out except for King. Tovar was in the garage of the home when the home was surrounded. Tovar was checked for warrants. He had a warrant for failure to appear and was taken into custody. Davis was one of the residents who left the home on N. Center St. He was checked for warrants and officers found Davis had a warrant out of LaSalle County and he was taken into custody. Officers searched the home and found King hiding there. King was taken into custody without further incident.

Once in custody, King was found to have sustained injuries sustained when jumping from a second story window. He was transported to Ascension St. Joseph Hospital where he was treated and released to officers. King was transported to the Joliet Police Department for processing and then to the Will County Adult Detention Facility without incident.
