I know I would be in serious trouble if the roles were reversed”

Actor Michael Rainey Jr. speaks out after she was sexually assaulted during a livestream.

On Sunday, the 23-year-old actor appeared on TyTy James’ Twitch livestream and was groped by James’ sister. In the clip, the woman can be seen walking into the frame to approach Rainey Jr. The groping was not visible on camera as James’ sister’s hands were blocked by the children standing in front of her, but the actor’s reaction suggested that the incident made him feel uncomfortable.

Rainey Jr. reportedly left the livestream shortly after the encounter. James then addressed the situation in his Instagram stories, saying: “After the events that took place during my stream last night, I want to sincerely apologize to Michael and his family for what happened.”

He added: “My little sister was completely wrong and misbehaving. What she did was very inappropriate and unacceptable. I am truly embarrassed and disgusted by her behavior. I completely respect what Michael wants to do in this situation. After seeing the clip, I was completely baffled by what she did. I will take extreme precautions on future streams to avoid similar issues and have banned her from participating in future streams. I do not tolerate any form of abuse.”

Rainey Jr. also commented on the incident, saying that he was “still in shock” and could not take the situation lightly, “because I know I would be in serious trouble if the roles were reversed.”

“This is an unfortunate situation that I cannot condone in any way,” he wrote. “The fact is that sexual assault is never okay, regardless of gender or status. We are all human and should respect each other. Most importantly, we should respect ourselves.”

To add insult to injury, the actor’s team released a statement saying that Rainey Jr. was “deeply saddened and shocked by the events that unfolded during the TyTy James livestream this past weekend. He is still processing what happened and is unsure of what to make of it.”

The statement continued: “This situation is not taken lightly. Sexual harassment and assault are serious and unacceptable acts. Exploiting a person’s fame in this way devalues entertainers and underscores the need to respect their humanity. Those who entertain us are human beings like everyone else.”
