Pennsylvania Senator Fetterman injured in Maryland crash – NBC10 Philadelphia

Pennsylvania Senator John Fetterman and his wife Gisele were involved in a car crash on I-80 in Maryland on Sunday, officials said.

According to Maryland State Police, the incident occurred at approximately 8 a.m. yesterday when troopers were called to a reported accident on I-70 at the intersection with I-68.

At that location, police said, officers found a Chevrolet Traverse and a Chevrolet Impala – driven by the 54-year-old senator – after they were involved in an accident.

An investigation, officials said, revealed that both vehicles were traveling westbound on I-70 when the Traverse crashed into the rear of Fetterman’s vehicle for unknown reasons.

According to police, a passenger in Fetterman’s vehicle and the driver of the Traverse were taken to a nearby hospital for treatment of their injuries after the collision.

No citations were issued, but Maryland law enforcement authorities said the incident remains under investigation.

According to a spokesman for Fetterman, the senator suffered minor injuries in the accident.

“On Sunday morning, John and Gisele were involved in a car accident with another driver. Out of an abundance of caution, they were transported to a local hospital. John was treated for a shoulder contusion and they were released that afternoon. They are doing well and are happy to be back in Braddock,” the spokesperson told NBC10.

The spokesman said Fetterman was fired Sunday afternoon and intends to appear in Washington, DC, for the election this week.
