KEWANEE, Illinois — Police officers in Kewanee are investigating after finding a man dead during a wellness check over the weekend.

According to Kewanee Police, officers conducted a welfare check in the 800 block of West Division Street shortly after 10 p.m. on Saturday, June 8. During the check, officers found an unconscious man who was pronounced dead at the scene.

The Illinois State Police and the Henry County Sheriff’s Office are assisting with the investigation. Police do not believe the death poses a threat to public safety. It is believed to be an isolated incident.
