Thirty-three people were arrested as police cleared the camp at George Washington University

D.C. Police Chief Pamela Smith said 33 people were arrested Wednesday morning as officers cleared a pro-Palestinian tent camp at George Washington University.

“A total of 33 people were arrested this morning for charges including trespassing, often referred to as trespassing in other jurisdictions, and assault on a law enforcement officer,” Smith said. “As the camp was cleared, more demonstrators arrived outside of our perimeter. These individuals attacked our officers at 20th Street and Pennsylvania Avenue. Officers used pepper spray and some of the 33 arrests occurred at this location.”
