North Charleston stabbing suspect arrested in Florence County

NORTH CHARLESTON, SC (WCBD) – U.S. Marshalls on Monday arrested a man wanted for stabbing a 4-year-old and an adult man at a North Charleston motel.

Akem Joseph Smith, 33, was arrested in Florence County for a stabbing involving two men that occurred on Sunday, according to the North Charleston Police Department (NCPD).

According to investigators, Smith is accused of stabbing the two victims at the Siesta Motor Lodge on Rivers Avenue.

Smith is charged with two counts of attempted murder and possession of a knife during a violent crime. He is being housed at the Al Cannon Detention Center.
