7-year-old girl sexually abused by 16-year-old boy in Lodhi Colony

NEW DELHI: A 16-year-old neighbourhood boy was arrested by Delhi Police for sexually assaulting a minor seven-year-old girl in South Delhi’s Lodhi Colony.

The police were informed about the incident through a PCR call to the Lodhi Colony police station.

According to police, the incident took place three to four days ago when the victim, a seven-year-old girl from Meharchand Market, was sexually abused by a minor boy from the same neighbourhood.

The girl and her grandmother were found together. The grandmother later reported the terrible incident that had happened to the child.

The girl’s grandmother, distraught and angry, bravely reported the incident to the police, who immediately registered a case under Section 376AB IPC and 6 POCSO Act at Lodhi Colony police station.

During the investigation, the underage boy, who is also a neighbor, was identified and arrested.

The 16-year-old boy has been sent to an observation home where he will undergo further examinations and questioning.

The gravity of the case has not only shocked the Lodhi Colony community but also sparked widespread public outrage.

The incident is a stark reminder of the cruelty and arbitrariness of such crimes and shows that increased vigilance and harsher punishment of perpetrators are necessary.
