STATEN ISLAND, NY — A Staten Island resident was attacked with scissors last week while coming to the aid of a woman in Manhattan, according to the New York Post.

Joseph Rivera, a box truck driver and father in our area, was on his delivery route when, he told The Post, he witnessed a woman being physically attacked by a crazed man near the intersection of Fulton and South streets around 8:30 a.m. and intervened.

Rivera, 36, allegedly shouted at the attacker: “What the hell is wrong with you?”

According to the Post, the attacker then ran to Rivera’s truck. The attacker stabbed him in the arm with surgical scissors before Rivera and another person managed to detain the man until police arrived, according to the Post.
