New Delhi (India), June 10 (ANI): A minor boy was arrested for allegedly sexually assaulting a seven-year-old girl, his neighbour, in Delhi’s Lodhi Colony, police said on Monday.

The victim is seven years old. The 16-year-old defendant is also a minor.

Police received a PCR call regarding an incident of sexual assault and officers arrived at the scene.

“On June 9, a PCR call was received at PS Lodhi Colony regarding a sexual assault on a minor girl. Police rushed to the scene where the 7-year-old girl, a resident of Meharchand Market, Delhi, was found with her grandmother,” police said.

The victim’s grandmother reported the entire incident to the police. She claimed that her neighbor had sexually abused her daughter in his house three to four days ago.

Following the complainant’s statement, the police registered a case under Section 376 AB of the Indian Penal Code (rape of a woman below 12 years of age) and Section 6 of the POCSO Act at the Lodhi Colony police station, police said.

The accused minor defendant or child in conflict with the law (CCL) was arrested and taken to an observation home.
