Hudson, NH man charged with sexual abuse of child

NASHUA, NH — A Hudson, NH man is awaiting arraignment on charges he sexually abused a child he knew earlier this year, authorities said.

On Wednesday, Nashua police arrested 77-year-old James A. Brown on a warrant for endangering the welfare of a child, a Class B felony.

According to police, the alleged abuse came to light on April 16 when officers were called to Elm Street Middle School after a student told a staff member she had been sexually assaulted by a man the previous evening.

Detectives from the Special Investigations Division conducted an investigation and identified Brown as the suspected perpetrator. A warrant was subsequently issued for Brown’s arrest.

In addition to endangering a child, Brown was charged with sexual assault, a Class A misdemeanor.

Brown, who was released on $250 bail after his arrest, is scheduled to be arraigned at 1 p.m. Tuesday in Nashua’s 9th District Court.
