Trial for “rape by stranger” discontinued due to unforeseeable circumstances

A trial for “stranger rape” was dismissed and rescheduled due to unforeseen problems in court.

Nigel Hunt stood trial at Oxford Crown Court on four counts of rape which allegedly occurred on October 30, 2021, and one count each of assault by penetration and rape which allegedly occurred on May 1, 2023.

The 30-year-old is accused of raping two 18-year-old students who did not know Hunt or each other.

Each of the incidents is said to have occurred after a night-time party in downtown Oxford.

Hunt, of William Kimber Crescent, The Old Nursery, Headington, has denied the offences.

However, due to unforeseen circumstances, the jury was dissolved on Monday (June 10) and the case was postponed until November 4.
