Accident with injuries near Allen sends one to hospital | Free

An Allen man was injured in a rollover accident in rural Lyon County Monday morning.

At approximately 7:34 a.m., the Lyon County Sheriff’s Office, Allen/Admire First Responders, and Emporia/Lyon County EMS were dispatched to the 3000 block of L Street after a rollover incident was reported.

According to Sergeant Zachary Shafer, authorities determined that 65-year-old Matthew Lanzrath of Allen was driving a 1994 Chevrolet Suburban southbound on L Road when he reached for an object in his vehicle. Lanzrath then entered the west ditch. He overcorrected twice, first into the east ditch and then back into the west ditch, where the vehicle eventually rolled over once.

Lanzrath was taken by ambulance to Newman Regional Hospital for treatment of his injuries. Shafer said Lanzrath was wearing a seatbelt at the time of the accident.
