Teenage neighbor arrested for sexually abusing a minor in Delhi

A minor girl was sexually assaulted by her neighbour at Delhi’s Meharchand market; a minor accused was arrested for the incident, police said on Monday.

According to police, the incident came to light on Sunday when they received a PCR call regarding the sexual assault of a seven-year-old girl living in Meharchand Market in Delhi’s Lodhi Colony area.

A police team rushed to the spot where the survivor was found with her grandmother. Narrating the victim’s ordeal, the old lady said she was sexually assaulted by a neighbour in his house around 3-4 days ago.

The accused, a 16-year-old youth, was duly arrested by the police.

Further, on the basis of the statement of the complainant, a case under Section 376AB of the Indian Penal Code and 6 POCSO Act was registered at Lodhi Colony police station and the boy aged – was accordingly arrested and sent to an observation home.

Further investigations into this case are ongoing.

Meanwhile, in late April this year, a six-year-old girl in South Delhi’s Sangam Vihar was allegedly sexually abused by her tutor’s son. According to police, the accused, a 32-year-old man from Sangam Vihar, has been arrested in this connection.

In May, the Metro Rail Unit of the Delhi Police arrested a man for allegedly sexually assaulting a minor boy on a train.

On May 3, a minor boy wrote on social media that while he was travelling by metro to his residence at Rajiv Chowk station, a man attacked him after he boarded the train. Initially, he thought it was an accident, but the accused continued to harass him until they reached Kashmere Gate.
