Two shootings in the Valley are being investigated, one person injured – CNAW 2 with Colin Scroggins

Valley Police are investigating after receiving two reports of shots fired at residential homes on Sunday, June 9, 2024.

The first incident occurred between 1:00 a.m. and 1:30 a.m. in the 2200 block of US Highway 29. The homeowner, a 49-year-old woman, was awakened when she was shot in the right side. Her 15-year-old son was also in the house at the time but was unharmed.

She was transported to EAMC Lanier and later to Piedmont in Columbus. Her condition is currently unknown. Officers found numerous shell casings outside the home.

The second incident occurred between 2:00 a.m. and 5:45 a.m. in the 100 block of Bennett Street. The unoccupied house was struck by several bullets.

“There were no witnesses to these incidents and no descriptions of the attackers or vehicles were given,” police said.
