Philadelphia police officer injured in Mayfair crash – NBC10 Philadelphia

Philadelphia police officials said an officer was injured in an accident that occurred early Monday after a robbery in progress was broken up in the Mayfair neighborhood.

According to police, the incident occurred at approximately 3:30 a.m. after officers attempted to break up a robbery in progress in an alley in the area of ​​3200 Princeton Avenue.

When officers tried to arrest those responsible for this incident, the perpetrators fled, according to police: two fled on foot, one tried to escape at the wheel of a white Chevy Camaro.

At some point, near the intersection of Rowland Avenue and Friendship Street, the driver of the Camaro, attempting to pass a patrol car, struck the police vehicle carrying a female officer and other vehicles in the area before coming to a stop, officials said.

According to police, the officer involved in the accident was taken to hospital for observation after the accident.

The driver of the Camaro, an 18-year-old man, was arrested, police said.

Police are still searching for the other two men believed to be involved in the incident. Officials said they recovered a firearm, but investigators are not sure if the weapon is connected to the robbery.

The investigation into this incident is ongoing, officials said.
