NRL Judiciary Round 14: Josh Aloiai faces two-game ban for travelling

Zac Lomax made a brilliant return to club level, just 48 hours after making an impressive NSW debut, shining in the opening game of the round for St George Illawarra.

However, he was also included in the report after colliding with Solomon Alaimalo during an aerial battle, leaving him nervously awaiting the results of the Match Review Committee.

Elsewhere, two Manly forwards were charged following their loss to Penrith, while Kai Pearce-Paul was reported for a dangerous throw during Newcastle’s defeat.

Josh Aloiai faces two-game suspension due to travel

Manly prop Josh Aloiai faces a two-week suspension after being accused of tripping during the Sea Eagles’ loss to the Panthers.

Aloiai was charged with second-degree dangerous contact for his foul on Daine Laurie in the 75th minute. \

If he decides to contest the charges in court and is found guilty, Aloiai could be banned for three games.

Nathan Brown was also charged with an incident during the game, but the agitator got off with a $1,800 fine for his disorderly conduct.

Zac Lomax escapes suspension after reporting

Lomax is cleared to play for the Dragons against Manly next week after he was not charged in the incident involving Alaimalo.

The duel against the Sea Eagles will be the last game before the Blues head to training camp for their decisive Game II against Queensland.

Lomax attacked a bomb from Ben Hunt, but collided with Alaimalo, causing his opponent to crash headfirst onto the pitch.

Alaimalo had to be carried off the field by medical staff and was suspended for the rest of the game due to a first-class concussion.

“He fought for the ball,” Shane Flanagan said after the game, defending Lomax.

“We’ve seen Zac – I could give you 20 of them this year – where he just has an eye for the football, runs and jumps and competes.

“Unfortunately, it just went wrong. But I don’t think he did anything wrong. It’s unfortunate.”

The MRC agreed with Flanagan’s assessment on Saturday morning after no charges were filed over the game.
