Bristol police support daughter of deceased police officer in preschool graduation

BRISTOL, Connecticut (WTNH) – Police officers from Bristol and North Haven recently came together to support and honor the daughter of a fallen police lieutenant.

On October 12, 2022, Bristol Police Lieutenant Dustin DeMonte and Sergeant Alex Hamzy were shot and killed in an ambush while responding to a 911 call.

Investigators said Officer Alec Lurato, who was injured in the attack, fired a single shot, killing the shooter.

Last week, her colleagues came by to cheer on DeMonte’s daughter Phoebe as she graduated from preschool.

“Congratulations Phoebe, now it’s summer for you too!” police said in a Facebook post about the gathering.
