Top executives and union workers to vote on ratification of new agreement

BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) — Another tentative agreement has been reached between Tops and Teamsters Local 264 after a strike began last Friday.

The union made the announcement Sunday afternoon, saying the new agreement provides employees with “financial security and benefit protection without any concessions.”

Monday morning, Local 264 plans to hold an information meeting on the new agreement, followed by a ratification vote.

“I want to emphasize that this agreement benefits from the full recommendation of our bargaining committee, who worked tirelessly to achieve the best possible outcome for our members,” said Local 264 President Brian Dickman.

The employees’ previous contract, which covered approximately 550 workers in the maintenance, sanitation, warehouse and transportation sectors, expired on May 31. Earlier that month, workers voted overwhelmingly to authorize a strike.

In Sunday afternoon’s announcement, Dickman said he anticipated union members would return to work soon.
