One person dead, two others injured in triple shooting in Kansas City’s Crossroads

A police spokesman said one person was dead and two others were injured in a three-person shooting early Monday in Kansas City’s Cross Roads Arts District.

Officers responding to the shooting around 12:45 a.m. found a man shot on the sidewalk near Truman Road and Grand Boulevard, said Sergeant Phil DiMartino of the Kansas City Police Department.

Officers attempted to save the victim’s life and called for an ambulance. Emergency responders took the victim to a hospital where DiMartino was pronounced dead. The victim’s death is being investigated as a homicide.

Officers also found two women in a parking lot behind businesses in the area who had also been shot. The victims were taken to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, DiMartino said.

When police arrived, a large crowd had gathered at the scene. Investigators wanted to speak to witnesses and reviewed surveillance footage to determine the events leading up to the shooting.
