Teenager dead after car crash in Ann Arbor

One person was killed and two others were injured in a traffic accident in Ann Arbor over the weekend.

According to police, the driver, a 19-year-old man from Ecorse, left Jackson Road westbound as he entered the curve at Gralake Avenue and struck several trees. Police learned of the crash around 4:50 a.m. Sunday when they received an accident report from an iPhone.

The driver was taken to a hospital with minor injuries. One of his passengers, a 19-year-old man from Detroit, suffered serious injuries, while another passenger, an 18-year-old man from Taylor, was killed. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

After being released from the hospital, the driver will be held in the Washtenaw County Jail while police investigate whether alcohol was a factor in the crash.
