US Vice President Kamala Harris has been criticized for expressing grief for the “innocent” Palestinians killed in Saturday’s Israeli raid that rescued four hostages, despite revelations that ordinary Gaza residents were involved in – or at least aware of – the detention and transfer of Israeli prisoners held in predominantly civilian areas.

“Before I begin, I just want to say a few words about this morning that I know is heavy on all of our hearts,” Harris said at a Democratic Party fundraiser in Michigan. Michigan, a state with a high Muslim population, is said to be a concern for Biden’s campaign in the upcoming election.

In the hours following Israel’s release of the hostages, it became known that civilians, including a reporter working for Al-Jazeera And Palestine Chronicleheld the Israeli hostages captive in their homes. The Israeli forces were also heavily fired upon by terrorists while attempting to evacuate the hostages.

“Kamala Harris mourns the loss of the terrorist hostage takers,” wrote the National Republican Senatorial Committee.

The Republican Jewish Coalition asked: “Why is the Biden administration finding it so difficult to stand with Israel in its fight to defeat Hamas terrorists and rescue the remaining hostages?”

“Does she mourn the loss of the Hamas people with the anti-tank guns who came to stop the Israelis from leaving and caused so many casualties? Are they on her list?” wrote Clifford Asness, a Jewish billionaire and hedge fund manager with a large social media following.

Jake Sullivan, the US national security adviser, also said that innocent people had been killed. “We don’t know the exact number, but innocent people were killed,” he said. CNN“Every day that we lose more innocent people is another terrible, horrible, tragic day.”

During her remarks, the US Vice President was briefly booed.
