According to authorities, a person who pointed a gun at police officers was shot by Pomona police on Sunday, June 9, and an investigation has been launched.

The shooting occurred around 7:45 p.m. in the 600 block of West Holt Avenue, near the intersection with White Avenue, according to Pomona Police Chief Michael Ellis. The person was struck by gunfire at least once after pointing the gun at officers.

The suspect was taken to a hospital and is said to be in stable condition, police said. His identity was not immediately released by authorities.

None of the officers were injured and a firearm was found at the scene, Ellis said.

A news video from the scene showed a white pickup truck involved in an accident. Further details about the incidents were not immediately released.

Pomona police said the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department would take over the investigation.
