Man dies after shooting, Newport News police say

NEWPORT NEWS, Virginia – A man is dead after a shooting in Newport News, Newport News police said.

On Sunday evening at 9:39 p.m., officers were called to Pilot House Dr. to check on an unconscious person. When they arrived at the scene, they found a man who had been shot. Paramedics took him to a hospital where he succumbed to his injuries approximately 30 minutes later at 10:11 p.m.

The police currently have no information on suspects.

An investigation is ongoing.

This is the second murder in the city within 6 hours. Two men were shot at North Trellis Court around 5:31 p.m., one man died and the other was hospitalized.
