4 injured in shooting, 1 police officer injured in crash as investigation takes chaotic turn in southeast Washington DC – NBC4 Washington

Five people were injured in southeast DC on Sunday night after an investigation into a shooting ended in chaos because one of the police officers called to the scene was involved in a car crash nearby.

A total of three adult men and a young girl were injured in the shooting in the Fairlawn neighborhood of southeast DC.

Shortly before 6:15 p.m., Washington, DC police were called to the scene of a shooting on Minnesota Avenue SE. Officers arrived at the scene to find two adult males suffering from gunshot wounds.

While investigating the incident, police found that an adult man and a teenage girl were linked to the same shooting at a hospital, Washington DC police told News4.

While the investigation was ongoing, a police officer driving to the scene was involved in a car crash involving two other cars. The police officer was injured in the accident, which also totaled the patrol car.

None of the injured were critically injured, police said.

Crime scene footage showed over 80 evidence markers on the road at the scene of the shooting.

The exact circumstances of the shooting are still unclear. The cause of the car accident is also still unclear.
