Bivino Velasquez Morales | Wake County man killed in tractor-trailer crash in Sampson County

SAMPSON COUNTY, N.C. (WTVD) – A Wake County man was killed in a tractor-trailer accident Saturday night.

The crash occurred on US 421 at the intersection with Mount Gilead Church Road, just under 7 miles south of Clinton. The North Carolina State Highway Patrol (NCSHP) said the driver of a 2007 Toyota Tacoma failed to stop at a stop sign and drove into the path of a semi-truck.

According to police, the impact of the semi-trailer caused the Toyota to be thrown more than 60 meters off the road and landed in a ditch. The semi-trailer then also went off the road and landed in a ditch.

Authorities said the driver of the tractor-trailer, William James Brinson Jr., 60, of Kenansville, was not injured.

The driver of the Toyota, Bivino Velasquez Morales, 41, of Cary, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police said alcohol was unlikely to have played a role in the accident.
