Hrithik Roshan shows support for Kangana Ranaut after slapping incident

A CISF police officer slapped actress and politician Kangana Ranaut at the airport in Chandigarh on Thursday. A day after her victory in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections in Mandi in Himachal Pradesh, Kangana was on her way to a meeting in Delhi. Numerous well-known personalities condemned the attack on Kangana. Now Hrithik Roshan has also reacted to the controversy.

Journalist Faye D’Souza posted a message on Instagram on Sunday and many celebrities reacted.

The post reads: “Regarding the incident where MP Kangana Ranaut was slapped at an airport, violence can never be the answer. Especially not in our country, which was born out of Gandhi’s ideals of non-violence. No matter how much we disagree with a person’s views and statements, we cannot and should not tolerate violence. It is especially dangerous when security personnel in uniform respond violently. Imagine if, over the last decade, those of us who have questioned power had been attacked at airports by police officers who were sympathetic to that power.”

Alia Bhatt liked the post, as did celebrities like Soni Razdan and Zoya Akhtar, and reportedly Kangana’s ex-star Hrithik Roshan.

In a now-deleted post, Kangana Ranaut had previously criticised Bollywood for allegedly not supporting her following the reported slapping incident. The politician and actress said on Saturday that those who have no problem invading a person’s privacy also “have no problem committing serious crimes like rape and murder”.

“Every rapist, murderer or thief always has a strong emotional, physical, psychological or financial reason to commit a crime. No crime ever happens without a reason and yet they are convicted and sentenced to prison. If you agree with the criminal’s strong emotional impulse to commit a crime, you are violating all the laws of the land,” Kangana Ranaut had written.
