Paraglider crashes into paddock in Elphinstone in central Victoria

Two people were hospitalized following a paragliding crash near Elphinstone in central Victoria.

The plane landed in a paddock on Potts Road shortly after 11am.

Victoria Police said a 70-year-old man from Chadstone and a 69-year-old woman from Toorak were taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

According to Ambulance Victoria, one of the patients was transported by road to a hospital in Bendigo.

Paramedics from Advanced Life Support and Mobile Intensive Care Ambulance as well as a rescue helicopter were said to be on scene.

Investigations into the cause of the crash are ongoing.

Police are appealing for witness statements to the incident, particularly any CCTV and dashboard camera footage that may assist in the investigation.

A severe weather warning was issued for the central district, which at that time included the Elphinstone area, due to destructive winds.
