Driver arrested after fleeing the scene of the accident

One person is dead and another is in police custody following a hit-and-run crash in Kansas City that occurred Saturday night. The Kansas City Police Department, Missouri, said the fatal collision occurred just before midnight on June 8 at the corner of Independence and Chelsea Avenues near Northeast Middle School. Officials said the driver of a Ford Focus pulled out of a parking lot onto the shoulder of Independence Avenue. That Focus then collided with a motorcycle traveling in the roadway, causing the driver to be thrown from his motorcycle. The unidentified driver of the motorcycle was taken to the hospital, where he died several hours later. Police said a witness to the crash followed the driver of the Ford Focus after they fled the scene. The witness notified police of their location and was arrested a short time later. KCPD said the driver of the Ford Focus is being investigated for impaired driving.

According to officials, the driver of a Ford Focus pulled out of a parking lot onto the shoulder of Independence Avenue.

This lightning then struck a motorcycle that was traveling on the road and threw the rider from his motorcycle. The unknown driver of the motorcycle was taken to the hospital where he died a few hours later.

According to police, a witness followed the driver of the Ford Focus after he fled the scene of the accident. The witness alerted the police to their location and was arrested a short time later.

According to KCPD, the driver of the Ford Focus is being investigated for impaired driving.
