It is estimated that there will be nearly 40% fewer productions in Georgia this year compared to last year.

Atlanta makeup artist Carla Vanessa Wallace is currently working on set in metro Atlanta, but said work this year has been difficult to find.

“I know people who have lost their homes. I know people who lost their cars, had to downsize or find roommates,” she said. “And when you’re a union member, you sometimes worry about your benefits. »

“It’s pretty much nationwide,” said director and producer David Luse. “Many people think the strike is over and are back to work. But 60 to 70 percent of us are not returning to work.

The good news is that some say things are starting to rebound.

“We’re probably doing better than New York or California,” Luse said.
