Sexual harassment: Loader driver arrested for sexually assaulting 17-year-old | Kanpur News

Kanpur: Police have taken a loader driver into custody for sexually assaulting a 17-year-old girl in the city. Police stated that the accused lured the girl on the pretext of giving her noodles, her favourite food. He then offered her juice laced with sedatives and abused her after she fell unconscious. According to police, the incident came to light after the victim told her parents about the ordeal. The girl’s parents work as labourers in a factory. The girl’s mother said when she returned home on Saturday night, her daughter had gone missing. “Her son told her that a loader driver had come to their home around 10 am and took the girl away on the pretext of giving her noodles,” she claimed. She told police that later that night, the accused called her and asked her to come to the vegetable market. “When she reached the market, she found her daughter lying unconscious in the loader. After regaining consciousness, the girl told her mother that the accused took her in a loader towards Kanpur-Lucknow Highway and sexually assaulted her on the road after offering her juice laced with sedatives,” she alleged. Inspector Govindnagar Prashant Mishra said that the accused has been taken into custody. “The girl has been sent for medical examination. A case will be filed based on the complaint of the girl’s family members,” he said.
