Suspected tire thief arrested during early morning traffic check

BEAUMONT, Texas – A Beaumont police officer reportedly became suspicious when he saw a pickup truck loaded with tires leaving a local tire shop at 3 a.m. while on patrol.

While it is not unusual for a truck loaded with tires to leave a tire shop, the sheer volume of tires and the early hours of the morning led the officer to suspect that something was wrong.

The patrol officer stopped the truck and upon closer inspection realized that the driver was a known tire thief.

Although initial attempts to contact the tire store owner and confirm the break-in failed due to the early hour, the suspect’s ties to previous tire thefts raised significant suspicions regarding his involvement in a recent crime at the tire store.

The driver was arrested for traffic violations and the investigation into the possible burglary is ongoing. Police expect additional charges to be filed.

Beaumont Police commented on the incident in a Facebook post, saying, “The vigilance and proactive efforts of our officers are critical to preventing and solving crimes. This incident underscores the importance of being alert and responding to suspicious activity at all times of the day.”

Police are asking anyone with information about this incident to contact the police station.
