Shots fired during Lee’s Summit Downtown Days Festival

LEE’S SUMMIT, Missouri – Lee’s Summit Police responded to several incidents at the Downtown Days Festival Saturday night.

At around 10 p.m., officers were called to the area of ​​SW 3rd and Jefferson, just outside the festival grounds.


When officers arrived on scene, they found neither suspects nor victims. All those involved had quickly left the area.

There were also several minor disturbances during the festival. Officers also observed several members of the youthful crowd attempting to create a false panic by running away and pretending there was an emergency.

In one of these incidents, an elderly woman was pushed to the ground by the onrushing crowd. She was taken to hospital with minor injuries.

Officers will remain there until the end of the festival on Sunday.
