Man dies after motorcycle accident in Clay County

LIBERTY, Missouri – One person died in a motorcycle accident in Clay County Saturday evening.

The Clay County Sheriff’s Office received a report of an injury crash in the 21000 block of East State Route H, just east of Liberty, at approximately 8:50 p.m.

The officers determined that it was a single-vehicle accident in which a motorcycle had left the road and overturned.

They performed CPR on the motorcyclist before an ambulance arrived and took him to hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

The man was identified as 56-year-old Steven Hoyes of Liberty.

Investigations indicate that alcohol probably played a role in the accident.
