Colorado man charged with murder after possible domestic violence incident, police said

A woman is dead after being shot in her car, and now a Colorado man is in prison accused of first-degree murder.

Westminster police went to the area around 8 p.m. Saturday night after receiving a call about a possible domestic violence incident that may have occurred in a car near Melody Drive and West 120th Avenue. However, they believe the car had left the area before they arrived. They alerted surrounding authorities with a description of the vehicle.

Thornton police were later notified of a woman who had been shot in a car matching the description given by Westminster police. Thornton officers were also unable to locate the car, but a nearby hospital notified police of a woman who had been shot.

Investigators went to the hospital, where police officers told the woman died from her injuries.

The alleged victim has not been identified.
