Jack Crighton sent off after incident with Jac Caglianone and Nolan Nawrocki

Jack Crighton, first baseman on the Clemson baseball team, was ruled out of the host Tigers’ second Super Regional game against Florida on Sunday.

Florida pitcher Jac Caglianone collided with Clemson batter Nolan Nawrocki on the first base line to end the second inning. Both Caglianone and Nawrocki had been arguing and had to be separated after the collision while both teams’ dugouts were cleared.

Crighton, who was on second base, ran toward Caglianone and Nawrocki and came into contact with the umpires, resulting in his ejection after a delay of nearly 20 minutes.

Crighton was the only player from either team to be sent off as a result of the incident. Tryston McCladdie replaced him at first base.

Clemson trails Florida 1-0 in the best-of-three Super Regional and needs a win on Sunday to keep its season alive and its hopes of making the College World Series for the first time since 2010.
