Costco recalls some Tillamook cheese slices due to possible plastic parts – WFTV

Costco is recalling a 32-oz two-pack of Tillamook Colby Jack and Tillamook Monterey Jack after receiving reports of possible plastic being found in the item.

Costco announced the voluntary recall in a letter to customers last week. According to USA Today, the recall was due to “possibly small amounts of gray and black plastic” in some Tillamook cheese slices.

The recall affects 32-oz. two-packs of Tillamook Colby Jack and Monterey Jack cheese slices purchased between May 9 and May 31, KTLA reported. The expiration date is listed as October 22, 2024, USA Today reported.

It is not clear which locations have affected the product in the recall, but stores in the northwestern U.S., such as Washington, Oregon, Northern California, Montana and Idaho, are affected, USA Today reported.

“Out of an abundance of caution and as part of our commitment to the highest levels of product quality and safety, we are voluntarily taking action to remove this product from the market,” Costco said, according to KOIN.

“As part of standard food safety and quality assurance procedures, Tillamook has identified a very small amount of gray and black plastic pieces that may be present in a limited quantity of Monterey Jack cheese contained in the 32-ounce package of Tillamook Monterey Jack and Tillamook Colby Jack cheese slices,” Costco stated in a letter obtained by KTLA.

If you still have the product, it is recommended that you do not consume it and return it to your local Costco store, the news outlet reported. KOIN reported that you will receive a full refund.
