18-year-old arrested after hit-and-run incident involving NYPD officer

One of the three suspects was arrested in connection with a hit-and-run accident on May 24 in which the victim was an on-duty police officer.

Three male suspects who were illegally riding their motorcycles through Central Park were approached by police officers near 90th Street and West Drive at around 4:05 p.m.

While the officer attempted to escort them out, he was hit by one of the suspects on his bicycle before all three fled the scene.

The officer was knocked to the ground and suffered minor injuries from the fall. He was taken to Mount Sinai Morningside Hospital for treatment.

Police have now confirmed the arrest of 18-year-old Brent Rosa, a Bronx resident, who is accused of assault on a police officer, reckless endangerment and leaving the scene of a crime.

Public records show he pleaded not guilty to all three charges and that prosecutors requested bail, but he was released on his own recognizance. He is due back in court on July 23.
