ATTENTION! This week 2 rides in Disney World will be closed

At Disney World, the rides are constantly temporarily closed.

Cinderella Castle

Outdoor rides may close if there is lightning nearby or a ride has a minor glitch that needs to be fixed by staff. There are many reasons why a ride may close briefly during the day. Regardless, temporarily closed rides usually reopen within a few hours or less. However, some rides may remain closed for extended periods of time due to renovations or even larger projects like redesigning a ride. That’s exactly what’s happening to two rides at Disney World this week.

Tiana’s Bayou Adventure and Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster will remain closed the week of June 9-16, but the reopening dates for both rides are coming soon!

Tiana’s Bayou Adventure

Splash Mountain closed on January 23, 2023 and the new attraction that takes its place will open on June 28!

Tiana’s Bayou Adventure

Disney has redesigned the ride to give it a kiss the frog theme, and it’s called Tiana’s Bayou Adventure! Last week we finally got to ride it, and now we’re excited for all of you to too! Disney also shared a look at the new characters coming to the attraction!

We can hardly wait!

We can’t wait for it to open on June 28th! Plus, Annual Passholders, DVC Members, Cast Members, and D23 Gold Members will have the opportunity to get an early look at the film. We don’t know about you, but we’re excited!

Is the queue the BEST part of Tiana’s Bayou Adventure at Disney World?

Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster

The Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster at Disney’s Hollywood Studios closed on January 8th and will remain closed for quite some time. The attraction will finally open on July 28th, so we just have to wait a little longer!

Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster

If you missed this ride as much as we did, be sure to visit Hollywood Studios on July 27th or after!

In addition to these two rides, two restaurants, two shows, an exclusive lounge, and an entire water park are also closed. Read on to find out which closures will affect your trip to Disney World this week!

Country Bear Festival

Country Bear Jamboree is still being reimagined at Magic Kingdom! The show closed on January 27th and is scheduled to reopen sometime this summer with the new, updated show.

A recent permit filing suggests that work is definitely underway here, and Disney recently gave a sneak peek at some new costumes and new music for the show!

Tomorrowland Terrace

The Tomorrowland Terrace at Magic Kingdom has only been open occasionally, usually during particularly busy times of the year, but it’s been a VERY long time since we’ve seen this place open.

Currently it is only used for dessert parties at the Magic Kingdom.

Restaurant Marrakech

The Marrakesh restaurant is partly closed and partly not. The restaurant will soon be used as a lounge for annual pass holders during the VIP Passholder Days!

Restaurant Marrakech

Passholders can visit the lounge at Marrakesh Restaurant from May 1 to June 18, 2024. However, we are still waiting for the full dining experience to be possible again!

Something NEW has just opened in the American Adventure Pavilion in EPCOT

Disney Vacation Club Lounge

The DVC Lounge in the Imagination Pavilion was closed on June 2 for renovations.

DVC Member Lounge at EPCOT

The lounge will be closed until July 13, but during this time, DVC members can use the temporary lounge in the Odyssey Pavilion. These exclusive lounges offer members a place to hang out and relax while charging their phones and themselves. Food and beverages will be available, but remember to head to the Odyssey Pavilion over the next few weeks.

Journey of the Little Mermaid

The Journey of the Little Mermaid as we know it will NOT be returning to Disney’s Hollywood Studios. It is now closed and Disney has confirmed that this show has been permanently shuttered to make way for an updated version.

β€œThe Little Mermaid: A Musical Adventure,” a brand new stage show, will replace the show at the Animation Courtyard Theater in fall 2024.

Typhoon Lagoon was closed for several months but finally reopened on March 17, 2024! Yay!

Typhoon Lagoon’s H2O Glow After Hours event

However, on the same day (March 17), Blizzard Beach was closed for renovations. Since it just closed, we don’t know when it will reopen, but since 2020, we’ve noticed that the two water parks have been alternating opening times.

Summit fall at Blizzard Beach

This means that even though summer is approaching, we may only have a choice of water parks to visit. We’ll be watching for news on Blizzard Beach reopening, but this summer you should head to Typhoon Lagoon!
