Incident of aggression at the wheel on Interstate 71 near Carrollton: Driver dies after shootout

A road rage incident in Carroll County left a man dead after he was shot near an Interstate 71 exit between Louisville and Cincinnati.

According to Kentucky State Police, Daniel Shouse was shot by an unknown driver on Saturday evening.

At approximately 7:05 p.m., a State Police dispatcher received a call from the Carroll County Operations Center requesting assistance with a DUI incident on I-71.

The preliminary investigation indicates that two vehicles exited Exit 43 in Carroll County. One of the drivers involved in the incident spoke to dispatch at the time and told the other driver that he had brandished a firearm, according to a KSP news release.

After exiting the interstate, the vehicles traveled on KY 389 before an exchange of gunfire ensued, killing Shouse.

State police troopers and other emergency personnel arrived at the scene, where the Carroll County Coroner pronounced Shouse dead.

This is an ongoing investigation.
