State of Decay 3 reminds us it’s still in development with a sad new trailer, and mostly makes me think of Dead Island.

Four years after announcing it with a frosty teaser, Microsoft unveiled a brand new trailer for State of Decay 3 at today’s Xbox Showcase – which, I’m sorry to say, contained no indication whatsoever of when the game might actually be released.

In this new teaser for State of Decay 3, there is a strong element of the famously sad Dead Island trailer (you know the one) and a little narrative twist towards the end – which I honestly find a little sad in itself. Does anyone ever think about who these people were, what they had, what they did and what they lost before the whole thing Brains Thing? Survival needs have a way of focusing attention on the moment, which is fine, but I think it’s a perspective that needs closer examination.
