Disneyland Resort employee dies after golf cart accident

A Disneyland Resort employee died on Wednesday after an accident and was left in “critical condition,” authorities said.

The Anaheim Police Department and Anaheim Fire and Rescue responded to the Southern California resort shortly before 11:30 a.m. “due to a traffic accident that occurred backstage,” spokesman Jonathan McClintock told NBC News.

“Upon arrival, police and firefighters found that a woman, a Disneyland employee, had fallen from a moving golf cart and struck her head,” McClintock said.

The woman, whom Disneyland identified as Bonnye, was taken to a hospital where she died two days later, according to McClintock.

Disneyland Resort President Ken Potrock issued a statement Saturday saying the resort is focused on helping her family and staff “during this tragic event.”

“We are heartbroken by the loss of Bonnye and would like to extend our sincere condolences to everyone who cared for her,” Potrock said.

Anaheim Police Department traffic investigators are investigating the traffic accident that resulted in the woman’s death.
